INW 26 Scoreboard – September 22

Notes of the Night

Number Two
The 24th ranked Cougars opened PAC-12 play with arguably the toughest opponent on the season, hosting Stanford. The Cardinal grabbed an early lead 10 minutes in and despite controlling a lot of the play WSU was unable to find the equalizer.

Fun Time
Senior Emily Funseth continues to shine, adding another goal to her tally with a seventh of the season to equal her combined tally from previous seasons.

Mountaineers Wrangle Bears
Eastern Oregon swept visitng Rocky Mountain on the day with the ladies netting a 2-0 victory in which they only allowed three shots while the men kicked things off with a goal and assist each from Milton Hernandez and Edgar Romero Perez.

FUTILITY OVER!
That Eastern Oregon men’s win was a monumental moment as it was the first-ever victory for the Mountaineers in CCC play against the Battlin’ Bears since the Frontier Conference trio of RMC, Providence and Carroll joined the CCC in soccer in 2015. Not only was EOU winless in the series, but RMC came in with a dominant record in the 10 wins with eight shutouts and a 22-2 aggregate tally.

Freshman’s Four
Providence cruised to a win thanks to the efforts of freshman Jose Vasquez, who scored all four goals for the Argos against Multnomah – the first two set up by fellow freshman Geovanni Lugo.
