The Gonzaga ladies went to Portland and picked up a rare victory in the Rose City with a late comeback performance that saw Chelsea Le score her first career goal – a blistering long-range beauty for the equalizer – after nearly seeing it all come to an end after two successive ACL tears. It was a showdown of the nation’s top scoring offense (GU, 3.55 gpp) and nation’s top defense (UP, 0.20 gaa) with the host Pilots also riding an eight-game unbeaten streak.
Upset Alert
Coming into their match against 24th ranked Western Oregon the MSU Billings ladies were winless in the GNAC at 0-4-1, but perhaps the draw at NNU on the weekend inspired because they rallied at home for the surprise 2-1 result.
Hat-Trick Not Enough
Jim Wagenaar pushed his goal tally to seven on the season for Northwest Nazarene with a hat-trick on the day but was just not quite enough against Western Oregon. His first two were needed to erase the initial deficit and his third came, again, after the visitors had reclaimed the lead once more. WOU would add the final dagger in the 89th.
