The Broncos went into their season finale on a five-game win streak in the Mountain West, but unfortunately dropped the contest 1-0 in a battle for second in the league. On Wednesday Boise State (8-2-1) faces Utah State (9-2-0) again in the MWC Semifinals after posting a 2-0 victory against Nevada (4-6-1) in the opening round Sunday of the tournament in Laramie Wyoming.
In Sunday’s win Kenzie MacMillan scored her 10th goal of the season with Sophie Drown providing the insurance tally. The shutout was the fifth of the campaign for Genevieve Crenshaw – she made four stops for the clean sheet.
Wednesday’s winner will face either regular season champion San Diego State (9-1-1) or fourth seed Colorado State (6-3-2).
MacMillan tied for first in the league in points (27), first in assists (7) and tied for second in goals (10). Not far behind is her teammate Carly Cross, who has 23 points, 9 goals and 5 assists. Morgan Padour is also in the top 10 in assists, tied for second with 6.
Defensively Boise State is ranked second in the league with just 21 goals allowed in 20 games (second in GAA at 1.05). Crenshaw is tied for third in shutouts with her five and second in GAA at 0.95 this year.
