In a tightly contested battle between two of the top sides in the GSL, Mead’s Rocky Wells tallied first for the visitors in the 17th minute as Mead found themselves on the front foot for the first 25 minutes or so. LC began finding the game in the final fifteen minutes of the first half and were rewarded with a Paulo Murray goal in the 32nd minute. Murray received the pass about ten yards from goal, took a touch around the keeper and calmly finished. Just before halftime, the Tigers took the lead on a header from Lucas Kinder that looped over the head of the Mead goalkeeper into the side netting. The second half was a back-and-forth affair with several chances at each end. The Panthers’ Wes Starley intercepted a pass from a Tiger defender and hit a low shot just inside the near post from 20 yards out. The stalemate continued through two overtimes and would be decided from the spot. Each team’s third shot was saved/missed and it wasn’t until the 8th round that Kolbe Wiser netted the decisive PK for the road squad. Both teams are now 4-1 in league play, with LC remaining top of the table with the point earned.
